[T028]
threshold level This term applies to no-fault automobile liability provisions.
No-fault was designed to reduce the time and litigation involved
when two or more parties are involved in an auto accident by providing
coverage with the insured's own insurer, regardless of who was
actually at fault in the accident. Some states have a modified
no-fault to allow an insured to take legal action against the
negligent party who caused the accident when the accident exceeds
a specified amount called the threshold level, or when serious
bodily injury, disfigurement or death occurs. The threshold level
is different by jurisdiction.
