Duty of Care, Sexual Assault & International Nonprofits - June 27, 2017
Sexual assault has become an increasingly prevalent danger in the international nonprofit community. As a consequence, the community must take steps to preserve the privacy of survivors of sexual assault, provide counseling and medical care and address issues of accountability. In order to continue to care for staff and meet community standards, it is imperative that nonprofits have an effective duty of care strategy relating to sexual assault.
This panel will address some of the steps international nonprofits can take to prepare for and respond to instances of sexual assault.
Panel topics will include:
- Emergency response planning
- The role of insurance
- Appropriate aftercare
- Relevant legal matters
- Potential privacy issues.
