Dennis Gustafson and Michael Tomasulo Honored with Power Broker Designation

Leesburg, VA – March 29, 2016  –  AHT Insurance is pleased to announce that Dennis Gustafson, Principal, Senior Vice President and Financial Institutions Practice Leader, along with Michael Tomasulo, Principal, Senior Vice President and Management Liability Practice Leader have been recognized by Risk & Insurance® as a 2016 Power Broker in the financial services and pharmaceutical categories respectively.

Dennis Gustafson earned his Power Broker designation as a “Shrewd Strategist” after he successfully created Bank ExecShield in 2015 to offer coverage for civil penalties against bank directors or officers as long as they pay for the coverage themselves, successfully negotiated a renewal for a client with a $2.5 million claim by generating competitive carrier interest, and provided “excellent customer service.” Dennis Gustafson leads the financial institutions practice in AHT’s Northeast office. He has extensive expertise in placing management liability, directors and officer’s liability, banker’s professional liability, lenders liability, and banker’s fidelity bonds for financial institutions. In addition, he assists clients with his widespread knowledge of the risk exposures and coverage available for cyber liability/privacy for all industries. Dennis maintains AHT’s relationships with Bank Director and Corporate Board Member publications and previously with the Americas Community Bankers Association. He is a frequent speaker on management liability topics at industry events.

“I am so very proud of this honor, specifically the positive feedback from our clients. But, I must share this recognition with our entire Financial Institutions team that tirelessly services our clients with responsiveness and expertise that is second to none,” commented Dennis Gustafson.

Michael Tomasulo’s global focus and business partner approach earned him a top spot as a Power Broker for the Pharmaceutical industry. In 2015 Mike assisted his biotech clients by streamlining global policies, simplifying otherwise complex processes, and truly serving as a business partner rather than a broker.  Michael Tomasulo is Senior Vice President and leader of AHT’s management liability practice. Mike has worked with hundreds of public traded companies, ranging from Fortune 100s to over-the-counter-traded (OTC) companies, in placing their directors and officers liability insurance. He is a regular speaker at Corporate Board Member magazine’s annual Boardroom Summit and at the annual Directors’ Summit. Prior to joining AHT in 2010, he was a senior vice president and team leader at AON Risk Services in New York City. He was a founding member of the NASDAQ Insurance Agency, which created NASDAQ’s own full-service insurance brokerage, and was responsible for East and Central regions until he assisted in the sale of the agency to AON. Mike also has held regional underwriting officer roles at global insurance companies AIG and Zurich. Mike is a member of Professional Liability Underwriting Society (PLUS).

“It is truly an honor to be recognized by Risk & Insurance, and to receive appreciation from clients for the service and results I aim to deliver on a daily basis,” commented Michael Tomasulo.

“Mike and Dennis are both such dynamic thought leaders in their specialties. This recognition is a tribute to the energy they devote to their craft to be selected as Power Brokers in 2016.  AHT and our clients are very fortunate to have them on our team,” noted David Schaefer, President and CEO, AHT Insurance.

The Risk & Insurance® Power Broker® Awards are an annual selection of the most effective and influential commercial insurance brokers. The Power Broker® designation is based on nominations provided by brokers and risk managers, and is judged based on the quality of the application and on references by risk managers in each industry sector. Hundreds of risk managers and risk executives are interviewed in the process of identifying and soliciting, evaluating and judging the nominees. Brokers are judged primarily on their creativity in solving risk-related problems during the previous year, their demonstrated industry knowledge and their high level of client service.
